January 2011 Fitness Diary!

Sunday, January 2: I began my 2011 fitness campaign with a 30-minute treadmill jog. Much to my annoyance, the treadmill I started on died suddenly at about the 15-minute mark. I continued on another treadmill; hence, the picture of the display only tells half the story, and I was forced to write the real figures over it. I guess I’m still too heavy….

Monday, January 3: I was supposed to get up early and go to the gym, but it didn’t even come close to happening. But! I instead did 15 minutes of abs at home and then found time during the day to swim 1,100 meters. 2011, so far so good.

Wednesday, January 5: I arrived at the gym at 6:40 a.m. and worked out for an hour before teaching 7 hours! Oach! 2.5 kilometers on the treadmill preceded by weights: back, lats, traps, biceps, hamstrings, and thighs:

Saturday, January 8: Back in the gym today after my busiest teaching week ever! And quite a good workout too: chest, shoulders, triceps, forearms, lower back, thighs, hamstrings, calves, and a 3.5 km jog:

Tuesday, January 11: A nice steady 1,300 meter swim in the later afternoon (that’s 52 laps of the 25-meter pool):

Thursday, January 13: Back in the gym after what seems like a while for a 70-minute workout that consisted of 3.5 km on the treadmill and exercises for my back, traps, lats, biceps, sides, lower back, hamstrings, thighs, and calves!

Friday, January 14: Another swim today (1.1 km). This time in the morning and unfortunately it was much too crowded to get into a regular routine. I really hate crowded swimming pools. Why can’t everyone simply get out when I’m trying to swim?

Saturday, January 15: A short sharp 25-minute weights session in the gym started at exactly 4:50 p.m. I worked my chest, shoulders, triceps, and calves with extra special attention given to my triceps and shoulders. They are consequently very sore today (Sunday).

Sunday, January 16: I hope to go for a long long swim after lunch…And I did just that. 46 laps of the 50 meter pool behind HomePlus:

Monday, January 17: A treadmill session before work (I love starting work at 2 p.m.!) Four and a half kilometers, 18 minutes at a 10 kph jog and the rest at 6.8 kph up a steeeeeeeeeeeep incline:

Wednesday, January 19 (Mum’s Birthday): A weights-only session in the morning: thighs, hamstrings, calves, back, traps, lats, biceps, lower back, abs and sides.

Thursday, January 20: I went to the pool but it was closed.

Saturday, January 22: An early afternoon workout in the gym to celebrate the start of the winter vacation. 3.5 km on the treadmill (the first 2.5 km at a 10.3 kph jog) and then weights: chest, shoulders, and triceps:

Monday, January 24: A nice leisurely 1,600 meter swim before dinner:

Tuesday, January 25: A rare evening gym session: back, biceps, lats, abs, sides, and lower back. I love back extensions!

Wednesday, January 26 (Australia Day): 3.5 km on the treadmill and a legs workout to celebrate Australia Day:

Thursday, January 27: No exercise due to a sore throat and developing cold:

Saturday, January 29: I felt well enough to exercise, but not quite well enough for a cardio workout, so I just stuck to the weights: chest, shoulders, triceps, forearms, thighs, inner thighs, hamstrings, and calves.
