June 2011 Fitness Diary!

Wednesday June 1: Finally back exercising after a busy weekend (the Kemmys competition and Seanan’s wedding) and the frustrating return of last week’s cold. By Wednesday, I still didn’t feel 100%, but I was anxious to exercise, and I was especially keen on doing my 300th cardio workout since I began keeping photographic records of my cardio workouts way back in September 2009. And that’s exactly what I did: a steady, but not-too-steep, three kilometres on my favourite treadmill to mark my 300th cardio workout in style:

Friday, June 3: A 30-minute back, traps, lats, biceps, forearms, thighs, hamstrings, calves and lower back workout in the morning before my noon teacher training class. Mmmm still not completely over this cold, but it felt good to workout.

Saturday, June 4: Three kilometres on my third favourite treadmill followed by a serious lower abs and sides workout:

Sunday, June 5:  To the pool near Mota Outlet for my first swim in what felt like a very long time. Just a nice easy kilometre today as I didn’t want to strain myself and the swim was really only a warmup for the intense weights session that followed: chest, shoulders, triceps, and calves. And my lower abs are sore from yesterday which is a nice feeling. Goodbye big bad stomach!

Monday, June 6: 40 minutes on a spin bike and then a pretty decent legs workout:

Wednesday, June 8: Something different today with a nice leisurely early-morning 60-minute walk and then I didn’t use the elevator. And later in the day I stopped by the gym for a 20-minute lower abs and sides workout. And then later that same day I went to the gym for the most intense sides and lower back workout ever!

Thursday, June 9: A quickish 30-minute workout todat between classes during which I exercised my back (all of it) and my forearms. The next day every muscle in my back was sore. I was so sore I decided to have a rest day.

Saturday, June 11: Another quick weights session and I think a record at just under 18-minutes. But it was an intense 18 minutes: chest, shoulders, triceps, and calves.

Sunday, June 12: Back in the pool today for a nice solid and steady 1 kilometre swim. I also climbed a lot of stairs today at various subway stations around Daegu. And my weight is down to under 94: 93.7 to be precise and dropping fast!

Monday, June 13: Up early and at the gym before 7:30! Thirty very sweaty minutes on the spin bike followed by a legs workout:

Tuesday, June 14: Another early morning gym session: no weights, just cardio. I intended to do abs after my treadmill session, but after a particularly sweaty 3.5 kilometres on the treadmill I decided to call it a day:

Wednesday, June 15: A short 20-minute back, traps, lats, biceps, and lower back workout in the afternoon.

Thursday, June 16: At the gym by 7:30a.m. for twenty minutes on the spin bike and an abs workout:

Saturday, June 18: After a day off yesterday, I returned to the gym for a three-kilometre treadmill session and a chest, shoulders, triceps, and forearms workout. All of which took about 50 minutes. I also went for a 90-minute walk in the evening and consumed fewer calories today than perhaps any previous healthy day in my life. Weight after working out: 92.8 kg.

Sunday, June 19: Up early and I rode to the pool near Moto Outlet and was swimming in it before 8 a.m.! I swam 1,400 meters and then rode to my local gym for a 40-minute legs and abs workout. Upon arrive home I went back to bed. Upon waking up I donned my new motorbike helmet and took today’s fitness diary picture:

Monday, June 20: Thirty minutes on the treadmill this morning, about half that time at a steady 9 kph jog. I wanted to run for longer, but the treadmill I was using stopped suddenly and died thirty minutes into my workout. That is so very frustrating! Bad treadmill! I ended the session with a few sets of lower back extensions:

Wednesday, June 22: Thirty minutes on a spin bike and then a pretty serious weights session (back, biceps, and calves) that left me feeling sick. My weight is now the lowest it’s been in perhaps a decade (91.6 kg). That 90 kg barrier no longer seems so unreachable:

Thursday, June 23: Just weights this morning before my first English House class of the summer. Today’s workout consisted of chest, shoulders, triceps, sides, and abs.

Friday, June 24: A very sweaty cardio workout before class:

Saturday, June 25: I passed on the cardio today and instead exercised the muscles that receive the least attention: legs, abs, and forearms. It felt good to work those muscles while fresh and not already tired from cardio.

Sunday, June 26: I ventured back to the 50 meter swimming pool behind HomePlus where I swam 1.5 kilometres, my longest swim in quite a while:

Monday, June 27: A rare evening trip to the gym for a quick but intense back, traps, lats, and biceps workout. My legs are still sore from Saturday in case you were wondering.

Tuesday, June 28: Another early morning workout, this time back in the gym for a 30-minute spin bike session followed by some calf raises:

Wednesday, June 29: A quick visit to the gym today between English House classes. Just weights again today: chest, shoulders, and triceps. I thought about doing abs as well, but had to do a few things at work before class started at 2:45 p.m.

Thursday, June 30: I ended perhaps my most active month with four kilometres on one of my favourite treadmills at the gym:
