(See September Fitness Diary).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Saturday, October 2:<\/strong> A solid\u00a0hour in the gym before lunch. My legs felt\u00a0better today so I hopped on the treadmill for 3 steep kilometers. And\u00a0a weights session\u00a0which consisted of exercises for my back, lats (almost recovered from the tear), traps, biceps, lower\u00a0back, and hamstrings. Plus a pretty good stretch. October has started well, but I have a busy month ahead&#8230;<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i827.photobucket.com\/albums\/zz192\/CaptPorridge2\/Fitness%202010\/20101002a.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Sunday, October 3:<\/strong> An early morning swim in the pool ebhind HomePlus: 32 laps, 1.6 kilometers. Felt really relaxed in the pool. Felt like I could have swum all day if I had wanted to, I didn&#8217;t want to.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i827.photobucket.com\/albums\/zz192\/CaptPorridge2\/Fitness%202010\/20101003.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Monday, October 5:<\/strong> Back on my exercise bike for the first time in almots a month (since September 7 to be exact). A nice steady 25 kilometers while watching the &#8220;Die Hard&#8221; episode of <em>Star Trek: The Next Generation<\/em>:<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i827.photobucket.com\/albums\/zz192\/CaptPorridge2\/Fitness%202010\/20101005.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Wednesday, October 6:<\/strong> Forty-five minutes in the gym today after lunch. Three kilometers on the treadmill and then an admittedly half-hearted chest, shoulders, and triceps session:<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i827.photobucket.com\/albums\/zz192\/CaptPorridge2\/Fitness%202010\/20101006.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Friday, October 8:<\/strong> One final trip to the gym before Sunday&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hiseoulmarathon.co.kr\/\" target=\"\" name=\"\">Hi Seoul (half) Marathon<\/a>: back, biceps, traps, lats, lower back, sides, forearms, and a very\u00a0light leg workout. Then later at home a final cardio session: 20 kilometers on my excercise bike while watching the latest <em>Office<\/em> and <em>Fringe<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i827.photobucket.com\/albums\/zz192\/CaptPorridge2\/Fitness%202010\/20101008.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Sunday, October 10:<\/strong> Well my half marathon didn&#8217;t go exactly according to plan. I strained my calf muscle after just a few kilometers. I still got a medal though which was nice:<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i827.photobucket.com\/albums\/zz192\/CaptPorridge2\/Fitness%202010\/20101010a.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Monday. October 11:<\/strong> An early morning gym session less than 24 hours after the shocking events of yesterday: Chest, shoulders, triceps, lower abs, sides, thighs, and hamstrings. Good workout! I hope I can get into the habit of working out before 9 a.m. classes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wednesday, October 13:<\/strong> My first cardio session since Sunday&#8217;s half marathon was a twenty kilometer exercise bike session clocking in at 30 minutes even:<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i827.photobucket.com\/albums\/zz192\/CaptPorridge2\/Fitness%202010\/20101013.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Thursday, October 14:<\/strong> A rare back workout at home! Back, biceps, traps, and abs.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><strong>Friday, October 15:<\/strong>\u00a0A nice leisurely 2 hour 15 minute walk to begin the process of strengthening my calves (I also did a few sets of calf raise) so hopefully they won&#8217;t stop me from running any more half marathons.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i827.photobucket.com\/albums\/zz192\/CaptPorridge2\/Fitness%202010\/20101015.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Birthday, October 16:<\/strong>\u00a0 An early morning birthday workout at the gym which consisted of chest, shoulders, triceps, lower abs, sides, lower back, thighs, and hamstrings! Quite a workout that one. Later in the day a nice steady and sweaty 20 kilometers on my exercise bike while watching the latest <em>Supernatural:<\/em><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><em><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i827.photobucket.com\/albums\/zz192\/CaptPorridge2\/Fitness%202010\/20101016.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Sunday, October 17:<\/strong> Oops, I was supposed to get up early and go for a swim, but it didn&#8217;t happen. Instead, a 2-hour walk around campus and many laps of the athletics track listening to Michael Giacchino&#8217;s music for the final season of <em>Lost:<\/em><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i827.photobucket.com\/albums\/zz192\/CaptPorridge2\/Fitness%202010\/20101017.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Monday, October 18:<\/strong> Up bright an early and at the gym by 7:40 a.m. and stayed until 8:20. It was my best back workout since injuring my right lat muscle a few months ago. The workout involved exercises for my upper back, traps, lats, biceps, forearms, things, hamstrings, and inner thighs.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><strong>Wednesday, October 20:<\/strong> Another early morning and I was out the door by 7 a.m. for a nice leisurely 2-hour walk that included a few sets of calf raises. The music of Michael Giacchino kept me company, specifically his score for the final episode of <em>Lost<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i827.photobucket.com\/albums\/zz192\/CaptPorridge2\/Fitness%202010\/20101020.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Thursday, October 21:<\/strong> A good solid gym session today consisting of chest, shoulders, triceps, and my first treadmill session (3 km) since injuring my calf in the\u00a0Hi Seoul\u00a0marathon:<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i827.photobucket.com\/albums\/zz192\/CaptPorridge2\/Fitness%202010\/20101021.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Friday, October 22:<\/strong> Twenty-five minutes of pure core in the gym! Lower abs, upper abs, sides, and lower back which I sure felt the next day and the day after. I definitely need to do that more often.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><strong>Monday, October 25:<\/strong>\u00a0 Back on my exercise bike for twenty kilometers after a weekend without exercise:<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i827.photobucket.com\/albums\/zz192\/CaptPorridge2\/Fitness%202010\/20101025.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Tuesday, October 26:<\/strong> Another twenty on my exercise bike plus a 45-minute night walk in the cold. Winter arrived suddenly and without mercy today:<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i827.photobucket.com\/albums\/zz192\/CaptPorridge2\/Fitness%202010\/20101026.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Wednesday, October 27:<\/strong> Up early and at the gym for a pre-class workout &#8211; 7:40 a.m. &#8211; 8:20 a.m: back, biceps, traps, lats, lower back, forearms, hamstrings, and thighs. I&#8217;m writing this\u00a012 hours later and my right side doesn&#8217;t feel quite right. I hope I haven&#8217;t pulled my lat muscle again&#8230;\u00a0 Update: I&#8217;m fine!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Saturday, October 30:<\/strong> Ninety-five minutes in the gym this morning, my longest and hardest workout for quite a while. My workout consisted of chest, shoulders, triceps, lower abs, abs, sides, thighs, inner thighs, hamstrings, and calves plus 4.4 kilometers on the treadmill.
