June 2012 Fitness Diary!

Saturday, June 2: My June campaign began in Houston, Texas in the Crowne Plaza’s little gym with a 4.5 mile (7.2 km) treadmill session followed by a nice relaxing poolside nap:

Tuesday, June 5: Three treadmill kilometers, chest, shoulders, and triceps to help clear those jetlag cobwebs, and it did the trick.

Thursday, June 7: Up very early for a 90-minute workout! 3.5 ks on the treadmill, several skipping sets, and weights: back, biceps, lats, traps, abs, forearms, and lower back. And that was my hardest workout in a very, very long time:

Saturday, June 9: I tested out my injured calf with a grueling 4.5 uphill kilometers! And it felt fine!!

Sunday, June 10: Chest and shoulders at home.

Saturday June 16: A break due to a long week at work wrapping up the Korea-Italy Forum material. I made up for all/some of those missed days with a grueling 90-minute workout consisting of 49 minutes 59 seconds on my favorite cross-trainer, 6 or 7 skipping sets, and weights for my back, lats, traps, biceps, sides, lower back, abs, and calves! Hardest workout in years!

Sunday, June 17: A lot of walking in my comfortable but ugly and smelly Vibram 5’s.

Monday, June 18: Up early for a weights session: chest, shoulders, triceps, legs, and forearms plus 5 pt 6 skipping sets.

Tuesday, June 19: I walked to work in the morning and then jogged 5.5 km after work:

Wednesday, June 20: Walked from home to MOTA Outlet and back again in the evening listening to the music of James Horner (new Spiderman score) and Jerry Goldsmith (Star Trek the Motion Picture).

Friday, June 22: A rare late workout consisting of back, biceps, traps, lats, lower back a few skipping sets. Intense!

Saturday, June 23: Up early for an early 8.7 km jog/run on the treadmill. And oops, I felt a slight strain in my right calf on the very last step. A few sit-ups and hamstring curls ending the session:

Sunday, June 24: 1.1 slow and cruisey kilometres in the pool listening to Jerry Goldsmith’s Star Trek scores:

Wednesday, June 27: Back in North America, this time in Sault Ste. Marie, Canada with a group of 19 lucky Keimyung students. We arrived Tuesday evening and I was back in the gym the next day with a 30-minute cross-trainer session:

Thursday, June 28: Another 30 minutes on the cross-trainer the next day, with a few light weights for back and biceps thrown in at the end.

Saturday, June 30: June ended with a nice leisurely 4 mile stroll across the bridge joining the American and Canadian sides of Sault Ste. Marie. The highlight being meeting Ronald McDonald, founder and CEO of McDonald’s Restaurants.
