Tuesday, November 1: I started exercising before the month of November was 7.5 hours old. It was hard to get up early after a long day in Seoul yesterday, but I managed to do just that and I arrived at the gym on campus just after 7 a.m. for a pretty good all round weights session in which I exercised my thighs, hamstrings, calves, sides, abs, lower back, back, traps, lats, and biceps.
Wednesday, November 2: Up early again and at the gym by 7:15 for a 4.5 kilometre treadmill session which included a lot more jogging than usual:
Thursday, November 3: I left my bikes at home and walked to work and then after work I worked home via Mr. Kim’s office. I bought a pair of Vibram 5s in Seoul on Monday and I wanted to break them in a little. So far so good!
Saturday, November 5: A chest, shoulders, triceps, abs, sides, calves, and lower back workout after the admin staff sports day which was a lot more fun than I expected. I walked (in my Vibrams) to the sports day and the gym and back home again so all in all it was a more active day than most. I saw Jeff in the gym for the first time since I signed up. Having a friend in the gym with me made me workout that much harder^^
Sunday, November 6: More walking in my Vibrams.
Monday, November 7: A short back, traps, lats, biceps, and forearm workout between finishing work and starting Korean class.
Tuesday, November 8: The fastest 4.5 kilometres on the treadmill in recent memory. That’s the good news, but the bad news is my left calf muscle is still bothering me a little:
Thursday, November 10: A late chest, shoulders, and triceps workout which started at 9 p.m.!
Sunday, November: 13: I was bitterly disapointed with myself for not exercising yesterday, but I have to admit I had pretty good reasons for not finding the time. It was the kind of day that had me listening to John Lennon’s song “Strange Days”. Nobody told me there’d be days like these either. But the good news is I exercised again and ate pretty well to boot: An hour ten minute walk to the pool near Mota Outlet where I swam an even 1 km:
Saturday, November 19: Back in the gym after an enforced break due to a crisis at work that left me emotionally and physically exhausted. 3.5 kilometres on the treadmill and exercises for my back, lats, traps, and biceps:
Wednesday, November 23: 3.5 kilometres on a treadmill again followed by a chest, shoulders, and triceps workout:
Friday, November 25: Another treadmill session, same distance as the last two:
Sunday, November 27: A nice and not-too-strenuous late afternoon 1 km swim:
Tuesday, November 29: A weights session after work: back, traps, lats, lower back, biceps, hamstrings, thighs, and calves!
Wednesday, November 30: I ended the month by running faster than I had in about ten years! It was my life’s Forrest Gump moment, and it felt exhilarating with no hint of the minor injuries (shin splints and calf strains) that kept me from running at pace in the past. I think I have my Merrell barefoot running shoes to thank for that. Thanks Merrell! A nice way to end the month…
