Saturday, August 1: A week of no exercise was all it took to make last month’s half marathon feel like both a distant memory and an impossible task. I did work days and evenings last week, but I could have found the time to exercise once or twice if I had really applied myself. On the bright side, it felt great to be back in the gym working up a sweat. Just cardio tonight (29 minutes worth while watching World War Z on the treadmill’s TV) as I was a little short on time:
Sunday, August 2: Today, I completed my 800th cardio session since record keeping began back in late 2009!
Monday, August 3 – Friday, August 7: Too busy to exercise due to a kids camp during the day and evening classes. The evening classes ended Thursday night (with an arm wrestle believe it or not), so I hope to be back in the gym soon.
Saturday, August 8: Finally back in the gym with a back, lats, biceps, and calves workout followed by a short, sharp cardio session:
Tuesday, August 11: I’m still struggling to return to my regular exercise routine due to long hours at work and several overlapping work-related and not-so-work-related projects, but I did manage to make it to the gym tonight for a quick cardio session which ended with a 13 kph dash:
Friday, August 14: I tried to make it to the gym on Wednesday and Thursday, but I was denied. I kind of made up for that on Friday night with an 18-minute cardio session:
Sunday, August 16: I dearly wanted to exercise yesterday, but the gym closed early due to the national holiday. Totally not my fault. Hence, I had to wait a day for a much-needed chest, shoulders, triceps, traps, calves, and forearms workout. It’s been a while since I’ve worked those muscles. Too long in fact. I ended the session with quick burst of speed on the treadmill reaching a top speed of 15.7 kph:
Monday, August 17: Another late-night cardio session. A little longer this time, and I again finished with a burst of speed to get the heart rate up:
Thursday, August 20: Cardio tonight to help me sleep. Tomorrow is a big day. Definitely one for the memoirs. And oops, I missed a number a couple of months back, so here’s the real cardio workout photo number 805:
Saturday, August 22: Another long-overdue weights session: back, lats, biceps, and calves.
Sunday, August 23: Cardio again as there wasn’t time for much else:
Tuesday, August 25: Another short weights session: chest, shoulders, triceps, traps, and calves.
Thursday, August 27: A 45-minute weights session today: back, lats, biceps, calves, sides, and forearms.
Friday, August 28: A wee cardio session to mark the end of the summer vacation, not that I had a vacation:
Saturday, August 29: Another not-very-long cardio session:
Monday, August 31: I ended August (and the summer vacation) with a solid almost-all-body weights workout: chest, shoulders, triceps, thighs, calves, hamstrings, traps, and a little lower back.
