Monday, May 1: I made it to the gym after a huge power nap in my office and despite a lingering, annoying cold. The nap did me good though, and I ended up completing a pretty impressive – by my standards – workout: lats, biceps, back, abs, lower back, and 68 treadmill minutes. Not a bad start to the month. Tuesday, May 2: Seventy-four treadmill minutes, and unless I’m mistaken, that’s my nagging cold taken care of. (Cumulative Total: 142)
Wednesday, May 3: I added another 48 minutes to this month’s already impressive total. (Cumulative Total: 190)
Thursday, May 4: A 23-minute warm-up treadmill session; weights: thighs, hamstrings, inner thighs, calves, abs, sides, and lower back; and then 14 more treadmill minutes. (Cumulative Total: 227)
Friday, May 5: Two treadmill sessions (21 and 16 minutes) with weights between and after: chest, shoulders, triceps, and traps. (Cumulative Total: 274)
Saturday, May 6: I still have a niggling sore throat, but it may be because of the pollution rather than a cold. Not good either way I guess. Ended up at the gym in the afternoon for a lighter session: 28 treadmill minutes and weights: sides, abs, lower back, calves, and forearms. (Cumulative Total: 302)
Sunday, May 7: Sunday is usually my rest day, but I did not rest this Sunday. Instead, I added another 69 treadmill minutes to this month’s total. (Cumulative Total: 371)
Monday, May 8: Seventy-two more treadmill minutes. (Cumulative Total: 443)
Tuesday, May 9: Thirty-seven treadmill minutes to start. That was followed by some weights: lats, biceps, back, abs, calves, and lower back. I finished with 18 more treadmill minutes. (Cumulative Total: 498)
Wednesday, May 10: Unplanned rest day. I had intended working out quite late, but a few things came up. I do feel fresher Thursday morning as a result, so it’s not the end of the world.
Thursday, May 11: Back to work with 94 more minutes added to this month’s treadmill tally. (Cumulative Total: 592)
Friday, May 12: Weights: thighs, hamstrings, calves, inner thighs, abs, sides, and lower back. After all that, I added an extra 37 treadmill minutes to this month’s record-breaking total. (Cumulative Total: 629)
Saturday, May 13: Another 54 treadmill minutes in the morning followed by a short chest, shoulders, triceps, and traps workout. (Cumulative Total: 683)
Sunday, May 14: Sixty-five treadmill minutes which hopefully made up for last night’s pizza, beer, and M&Ms. (Cumulative Total: 748)
Monday, May 15: A little weights session: biceps, sides, abs, lower back, lats, back, and calves. Not that intense though as my heart and head just weren’t totally in the game. A 42-minute treadmill session afterwards made up for that lack of intensity. (Cumulative Total: 790)
Tuesday, May 16: No exercise today.
Wednesday, May 17: Back to work with a decent 52-minute treadmill session. (Cumulative Total: 842)
Thursday, May 18: I had to drag myself to the gym at the close of a very long day. Consequently, my workout wasn’t that intense. Just a light chest, shoulders, traps, triceps, and calves workout followed by 22 treadmill minutes. I was ready to leave then, but courageously stayed for some core work and another 22 treadmill minutes, which helped to salvage the night. (Cumulative Total: 886)
Friday, May 19: One hundred and twenty five treadmill minutes. (Cumulative Total: 1,011)
Saturday, May 20: Music won over exercise today, but I ate well and had just a sip of beer, and that’s no small feat considering I spent most of the day at a beer festival surrounded by evil.
Sunday, May 21: Sixty-two treadmill minutes across two sessions separated by weights: lats, biceps, back, thighs, hamstrings, calves, and lower back. (Cumulative Total: 1,073)
Monday, May 22: A rare day off.
Tuesday, May 23: A chest, shoulders, traps, and triceps workout between two treadmill session totaling 33 minutes. (Cumulative Total: 1,106)
Wednesday, May 24: A solid core, forearms and calf workout in between another two light treadmill sessions. I’m cutting back on the treadmill this week to give my legs a rest. My plan is to increase weights and pay much closer attention to my diet. (Cumulative Total: 1,144)
Thursday, May 25: I dragged myself to the gym just before 11 pm for a 35-minute treadmill session. (Cumulative Total: 1,179)
Friday, May 26: I began a lats, back, and biceps session, but I abandoned it after a couple of lackluster sets. I just wasn’t in the mood. I turned to my trusty treadmill which didn’t let me down. Another 55 minutes added to this month’s record breaking total. (Cumulative Total: 1,234)
Saturday, May 27: A treadmill warm-up session first up. Then, some light weights: lats, traps, biceps, sides, lower back, thighs, hamstrings, inner thighs, and calves. Another cardio session to wrap up the day’s exercise. (Cumulative Total: 1,275)
Sunday, May 28: Rest day!
Monday, May 29: Another 37 treadmill minutes added to this month’s tally. That was followed by another lackluster weights session: chest, shoulders, triceps, traps, and calves. (Cumulative Total: 1,312)
Tuesday, May 30: A late night post-nap 50-minute treadmill session. (Cumulative Total: 1,362)
Wednesday, May 31: A final treadmill session of 48 minutes to end a long month. (Cumulative Total: 1,410)
